Thank you Belinda! I subscribed to your channel too and hope to see your videos soon! Yes, my humble opinion is for you to just get started and you figure things out as you go along. You also meet nice people along the way that give you tips and help you out. I love my mechanic’s chest, almost everything I have has wheels! My easel, paint holder, and I just got a table with wheels too. I like the easiness of being able to move things around and reconfigure as needed.

Thank you! It was actually a simple drawing I can’t remember exactly how long but I’m pretty sure it must’ve been less than an 1 hour 30 mins. I took my time to put on the layers so I wouldn’t damage the paper.

Hi it was done with Luminance 6901 colored pencils and Derwent ColourSoft colored pencils. The paper used was Strathmore Artagain Drawin paper (Coal black color). You need to work with soft pressure in many layers and crisscross to get more coverage. Don’t give up, if pencils is not a medium that produces the results you are looking for, don’t be afraid to try out other mediums. For instance, I love oils but they take too much time to dry in between layers and I work in a lot of layers so I switched to acrylics which allows me to work in layers at a much faster phase.

You can use a really old bristle brush as an alternative to a fan brush. Use whatever you have available, whatever can get the job done. For instance, I never really look at the brush size...I’m usually thinking more like, would it fit in this space? You can do the painting at intervals, 90% of the time I work in layers and build my layers on previous ones. I usually leave the blending towards the end, with thin glazes. Just have fun, don’t worry too much about being perfect, trust yourself and trust your instinct. Remember....it’s ok to start ugly!
